OVERVIEW

On this 5-day safari, you will visit Tarangire whereby you will have an opportunity to see what the park has to offer starting from the giant baobab trees to the huge number of largest African Elephants inside Tarangire, Ngorongoro crater which is a UNESCO world heritage site and the best place to witness the endangered black rhino, Lake Manyara National Park which is the home to the tree climbing lions as well as its birds’ richness and Serengeti National Park which has the greatest concentration of wildlife as well as famous for its great migration.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Upon arrival at the airport (Kilimanjaro or Arusha) you will be met by Safari Africa United’s representative and drive you to your accommodation in Arusha for overnight stay waiting for your adventures to start on the following day.

Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park (approximately 149 km (92.6 mi) & 2.5hrs drive)

Early morning after breakfast at around 8:00am, you will have a short briefing before you depart to Tarangire National Park. The park with its endless tree savannah including the impressive baobab trees and seasonal marshes is also home to the largest population of elephants in northern Tanzania. You are also likely to spot giraffes, buffaloes, lions, zebras, gnus and other types of antelopes and gazelles. Your guide will open the roof of the vehicle for excellent wildlife viewing. Hot Lunch will be served at around 12:30pm at the picnic site and after that you will continue to explore this incredible park.

In the evening after exploration, you will drive straight to your accommodation in Karatu area for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Ngorongoro crater to central Serengeti National Park (approximately 137 km (85 mi) & 3hrs drive)

Early morning after breakfast at around 8:00am, you will drive straight to Ngorongoro Conservation Area and stop at a viewing point has a built pavilion that provides a near 180° view of the Ngorongoro crater. After that you will descend down to the crater which is 600m deep.

The Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtakingly beautiful setting and the best place in East Africa to see the Big Five. It is one of the most beautiful natural wildlife safari sites in the world and an exceptional place to interact with people from the Maasai tribe. On reaching the crater’s edge, the 20 km diameter caldera opens up before you in all its stunning glory and you will descend into the crater on an adventurous trail. This World Heritage Site is seasonally home to over 25,000 animals in including a wide range of birds’ species, hyenas and the endangered black rhino.

Hot Lunch will be served at a picnic spot at the hippo pool and after that you will drive straight to the heart of Serengeti National Park. You will have an en-route drive to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park to Karatu

Early morning after breakfast at around 8:00am or according to your preference, you will continue exploring the endless plains of the Serengeti National Park for a half day game drive. The Serengeti National Park is home to the largest concentration of wildlife than anywhere else on the planet.

The park offers a multitude of wildlife including the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. Hot lunch will be served inside the park at around 12:30pm with some soft drinks and unlimited drinking water.

You will have a final game drive until in the afternoon at around 3pm where you will drive straight to the gate and head for your accommodation in Karatu passing through Ngorongoro conservation area for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha (approximately 126 km (78 mi) & 2hrs drive)

Early morning after breakfast at, you will drive straight to Lake Manyara National Park, which is also known as the home of Tree Climbing Lions and birds’ paradise. More than 500 species are present in Lake Manyara, and even for a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these species in a single day. Inland of the floodplain, a narrow belt of acacia woodland is the favored haunt of Manyara’s legendary tree-climbing lions and impressively tusked elephants. Other animals that can be found here are giraffes, Zebras, hyenas, Buffalo, Hippo, elephants and wildebeests. Lunch will be served inside the park and after further exploration of the park you will return to Arusha.

Those who wish to combine this safari with a trip to Zanzibar can take a flight from the local Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport.
